Technology Education
Dear Parent/Guardian:
The technology education classes at Springs are designed to give students experience with hands-on activities relating to the real world. To accomplish the goals of the curriculum, it will be necessary for your son or daughter to use various machines, tools, and materials. Students will construct products as they perform activities designed to teach and reinforce concepts that are basic to understanding the technical world in which we live. Safety will be stressed throughout the course, and the proper use of tools and machines will be demonstrated. Before a student will be allowed to operate any power equipment or work in the technology education lab, he or she must achieve a perfect score on all safety tests, demonstrate the correct operation of all tools and machines, express and show a proper attitude about safety, and submit a completed and signed "Student Emergency Information Sheet." |

6th Grade Social Studies
Dear Parents/Guardian,
I would like to introduce myself as your child's 6th grade History teacher at Springs Union Free School District. I am truly excited about the opportunities your child will have to learn this important coursework. It is based on the history and geography of the Eastern Hemisphere, including the development of cultures, civilizations, and empires, interaction between societies, and the comparison of trends in government and economics. It also incorporates elements of some of the other social sciences. The course is divided into eight key ideas that cover a time span from pre-history into the 1300s. Coursework is also intended to deal with current events and English Language Arts standards.
Below is my Classroom Management Plan and General Rules of Conduct. Please read them over carefully with your child.

Classroom Management Plan
The purpose of Mr. Cole's Classroom Management Plan is to provide students with rules which cover every behavior that could potentially interfere with the learning process of your child. The consequences of these rules, are intended to teach valuable life lessons. The following rules I believe to be essential to a productive classroom environment.
Rules: 1. Listen and follow directions 2. Raise your hand before speaking or leaving your seat 3. Keep your hands and feet to yourself 4. Respect your classmates and your teacher |
General Code of Conduct
Springs School prides itself in establishing a positive learning environment for all students, faculty, parents and community members. Each student has the right to learn in a safe and secure environment. Inappropriate behavior, which adversely affects the learning environment, will not be tolerated. Please review the Springs School Code of Conduct with your child. His/her teachers will discuss the policies, which are outlined in this very important document. This Code of Conduct is a vital part of daily student life, supporting a safe and secure learning environment. It is essential that the school and the homework together will assure that all students meet the high expectations for behavior established in the Code of Conduct. This enables students to succeed in school and the community. Your support is vital in this process. |
